Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Budget: $300,000 plus HST
Submission Deadline: Monday, April 30, 2012, 4:00 p.m. EST
The City of Ottawa Public Art Program invites artists to apply to develop, design, and implement a public art commission for the Barrhaven South Recreation Complex. This request for proposals is an equal opportunity, open to all professional artists. Participants must be Canadian citizens or have permanent residence status.
The Barrhaven South Recreation Complex (BSRC) will provide state of the art sports and recreation programming at the corner of Cambrian Road and Greenbank Road in Ottawa’s rapidly evolving community of South Barrhaven. This 141,391 square foot facility, designed by Perkins + Will, will contain twin NHL-size ice rinks, a community gymnasium, an aquatics facility, a fitness centre and a range of program and multi-purpose rooms. Located adjacent to an elementary school and sharing a 14 acre parcel of land with a district fire hall, the BSRC will form part of a civic precinct at the heart of its community.
An information meeting will be held at the Routhier Community Centre, 172 Guigues Avenue, Ottawa, in the first floor Lounge on Wednesday March 28, from 5:30 to 6:30 to provide potential applicants with the particulars of the site and the project. Artists unable to attend the information session may request a transcript of the meetings discussion.
The complete call to artists (including eligibility, design requirements, site locations, supporting documents, and selection criteria, etc.) is available here.
