Coming up on Tuesday, June 12th from noon – 1pm the VHF is launching it’s new public art exhibit ‘Room at the Roxy’, a fabulous 1957 image from the CBC Archives, at the CBC Vancouver Broadcast Centre , 700 Hamilton Street. Join us and enjoy a great live band, Sons of Granville, chances to win cool prizes and some freebies including free drip coffee from JJ Bean to the first 100 people – what a great way to spend your lunch hour! All welcome.
The WALL, located at the CBC Vancouver Broadcast Centre plaza at 700 Hamilton Street, is a Vancouver Heritage Foundation public art initiative, and is made possible through a partnership between the VHF, JJ Bean Coffee Roasters, and the CBC. The current feature exhibit is a production still from the 1957 studio-shot drama, A Room at the Roxy, captured by CBC Vancouver Staff photographer Alvin Armstrong. The image features a critical moment in the drama and gives the illusion of capturing a real moment in time.
A Room at the Roxy was curated by CBC Vancouver Media Librarian, Christine Hagemoen, CBC Vancouver Media Archives.
