The Aldergrove Pool Committee is working hard at attaining community support to push Township council’s to approve a plan to construct a community recreation facility.

The summer is treating mayors and councillors who sit on Metro Vancouver’s board or its committees well, as they are enjoying a nearly five per cent increase in the meeting fees they collect. They are currently paid $346 for every meeting they attend—up from $330 in 2011 and $322 in 2010. The fees double if a meeting exceeds four hours.

BC Lottery Corporation officials appears to have calmed fears of Cloverdale business leaders that a proposed South Surrey casino would negatively impact existing gaming business by providing assurances the planned casino would not offer competition to Cloverdale’s Fraser Downs Racetrack and Casino.
