Join the Vancouver Heritage Foundation this week for 4 Places That Matter plaque presentations around the city!
Saturday, October 13th from 2-4pm are 2 plaque presentations in Kerrisdale Village to celebrate the birthplace of rock n’ roll in Vancouver, Kerrisdale Cyclone Taylor Arena (2pm) and Kerrisdale Community Centre formerly Point Grey Municipal Hall (2:30pm). A reception will follow from 3-4pm in the KCC room 226. All are welcome!
Sunday, October 14th approx. 3pm, between race #3 and race #4, we’ll be at the winner’s circle of Hastings Race Course to honour its place in Hastings Park as more than just a race track.
The Places That Matter project evolved from the Vancouver 125th Anniversary celebrations when the VHF asked the public to nominate a place, person, or event that is important to Vancouver but that has yet to receive the acknowledgement that it deserves. After public voting and site selection committee meetings, the final sites were chosen. We’ve been presenting plaques at community celebrations throughout Vancouver ever since. No two sites are the same and every plaque celebration has been unique. Join us and get to know your city!
