Request for qualifications: 30 Light St./Lombard St Garade – Facade Project
Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Budget: Shortlist (4) $5,000, project $50,000+
Deadline: Friday, November 16, 2012

The Downtown Partnership of Baltimore, Inc., invites and welcomes the participation of artists, architects, and professional design teams in this important façade project.

The 30 Light Street parking garage sits at a prominent entry into Downtown and offers an opportunity to enliven its façade and to improve the pedestrian environment through the addition of design elements, artwork, video panel, or creative lighting. The goal of this project is to conduct a competition that will gather creative ideas for enhancing the exterior of the parking garage, both the Lombard and Charles Street sides.

In the first round, the top four ranking individuals or teams will be selected by the Review Panel to move to the next stage. Those teams will each receive a $5,000 stipend to develop their proposals and prepare an in-depth presentation for the Panel. The Review Panel will be open to all suggestions and ideas for this façade, including, but not limited to: traditional murals, video screens, light installations, video projections, sculptural elements, or green walls incorporating plants and natural materials.
