BUDGET: $10,000 (Medallion) & $125,000 (Suspended Sculpture)

The Fort McMurray Airport Authority is searching for Canadian artists for two public art opportunities that will be incorporated into the airport’s new terminal, which is scheduled to open in April, 2014.

(1) Two Dimensional Artwork for Floor Medallion.

An artist-deigned cut terrazzo and/or stone medallion will be incorporated into floor of the airport’s arrivals hall. The selected artist will develop a design and work with a fabricator identified by the airport to translate the design into terrazzo and/or stone. The design fee (excluding fabrication and installation) for this project is $10,000.

(2) Hold Room Suspended Sculpture.

An artist will be commissioned to create an artwork to be suspended from the ceiling of the north end of the airside hold room / gate area. The total budget (inclusive of design, fabrication and installation) for this project is $125,000.

The deadline for receipt of qualifications material is December 17, 2012, at 2 p.m. Mountain Time.
