The Corporation of Delta is looking into idle farms that have gone to fallow either because of foreign ownership or inactive farming, but local Delta farmers say the issue may be overblown.

Construction in [the metro Vancouver] region is going to get a lot easier as six municipalities work together in streamlining processes. A business licence in construction that was purchased in Surrey, will now be valid in Burnaby, Delta, New Westminster, Richmond, and  Vancouver.  The two-year pilot begins Oct 1, 2013.

Pitt Meadows is going ahead with a new roadside signage program to make easier for locals and tourists to find agriculture-related destinations. The city has launched The True North Fraser signage program,  a regional project partnering with Maple Ridge and Mission.

About 250 people visited Abbotsford Community Services (ACS) on Thursday evening for a public open house on the organization’s proposal to build housing for homeless men in Abbotsford’s downtown. The proposed facility would provide housing for 20 men, for up to two years.

The couple walks into a new South Burnaby eatery and asks the manager if they serve free-range eggs. The manager says no. “If I bring them over would you cook them?” the woman asks. Thus was the start of one of the numerous partnerships established by Urban Digs Farm since taking over an abandoned farm on Byrne Road last year.
