It’s international Park(ing) Day around the world. September 20th is a day where artists, designers and citizens formally and informally transform metered parking spots into temporary public parks. The event started in San Francisco and has grown to hundreds of cities, with installations showing the power of self created public places. In Vancouver there are three sites being formally organized with installations: 500 Robson St. 3 stalls in front of the restaurant retail on that block will be programmed from 9am to 3pm. 1050 Homer St. 2 stalls in front of VIA Architecture will be reprogrammed with an umbrella canopy and rotating activities from before 11am to 5pm. 198 East 21st Ave. Stalls in front of Chocolaterie de la Nouvelle France in Mt. Pleasant will have an installation from noon-6pm. Come check these out!
