West End 66 (excerpts), B&W, 1966 by scottvbc
West End 66 was produced for the CBUT ( CBC Vancouver) program Camera West. This visual tour (with a jazzy score) of Vancouver’s West End notes the recent growth and popularity of the area and examines the lifestyles in its inhabitants. The contrast between the modern glass and concrete structures and the remaining family homes is a striking one. But the contrast in architecture is matched equally by the contrast in the people who inhabit the West End, which according to the narrator, is “the natural habitat of the new mid century hybrid… the swinger“.
The original program is 28 min.
