In early August, Happy Cities and Hey Neighbour Collective “soft” launched a Building Social Connections Toolkit. It’s a new resource full of evidence-based design strategies to improve social wellbeing in multi-unit housing.

The toolkit draws on long-term research and engagement with residents and housing industry actors — including housing developers and operators (market and non-market), city planners, consultants, architects and funders.

It was the final phase of year-long project funded by CMHC and others (including Metro Vancouver) that involved planners from six Metro jurisdictions: cities of Vancouver, North Vancouver, New Westminster, Surrey, Burnaby and Tsawwassen First Nation.

We are now releasing the design toolkit across Canada and hosting a free webinar on Thursday, October 3 to discuss the practical applications and design principles of the toolkit.

Please consider joining us and forwarding the invite to colleagues. There will be lots of room and time for questions from participants.
