A weekly roundup of noteworthy news in municipalities across B.C.

For those who have somehow manage to avoid being affected by mass media exposure, the first SkyTrain faregate was installed earlier this week at Marine Drive Station in Vancouver as a part of the strategy to reduce fare evasion and increase security on Metro Vancouver’s transit system.

A wonderful event for heritage rail enthusiasts as two interurban electric rail cars were hoisted by crane on Wednesday into their new home – a car barn recently built by the Fraser Valley Heritage Rail Society on 176 St. south of Hwy. 10 in Surrey.

Great news for BC Transit as the Independent Review Panel gave it positive scores and reaffirms BC Transit’s commitment to providing efficient and effective services for our customers and taxpayers across the province.
