Life expectancy, air quality, safety and other indicators of well-being can vary dramatically within countries, depending on which region you live in. Looking beyond national averages is vital to get an accurate picture of quality of life and to guide local government policy.
With this in mind, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has launched an interactive regional well-being website that provides new data on well-being for various provinces across Canada.
The tool allows you to measure well-being across Canadian Provinces, and compare those results with 361 other OECD regions based on eight topics central to the quality of our lives (Income, Health, Safety, Accessibility of Services, Civic Engagement, Education, Jobs, Environment, and Income). You can access the tool here.
The tool presents data for Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and Yukon. Considering your focus on urban issues, this tool provides an exciting opportunity to evaluate and compare different regions of interest on a variety of factors.
