Women in Architecture is happy to present our upcoming March event: a public talk on the evening of March 4th by one of Canada’s most exciting young architects – Winnipeg’s Johanna Hurme, a founding partner of 5468796 Architecture.

WHEN: Thursday, March 4th – 6:30pm
WHERE: H.R Macmillan Space Centre Auditorium – 1100 Chestnut Street, Vancouver, BC
ADMISSION: Attendance is free but registration is required through our eventbrite page.

Our events are free and open to all. Women in Architecture (WIA) is a professional architectural organization in Vancouver, BC, Canada that champions women in architecture and related professions.

We are happy to partner for this event with University of British Columbia School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture, British Columbia Chapter of Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, and DIALOG.

Johanna Hurme is a Finnish transplant, Johanna graduated with a Masters of Architecture degree from the University of Manitoba and worked for several years in Winnipeg prior to establishing 5468796 Architecture with Sasa Radulovic in 2007. In the past seven years the firm has achieved national and international recognition, with work being published in has over 100 books and publications.

Recent firm recognition:

  • in 2012, 5468796 represented Canada at the Venice Biennale in Architecture

  • in 2013, they were selected as recipient of the 2013 Prix de Rome Award in Architecture for Canada by the Canada Council for the Arts.
  • won 2014 World Architecture Festival Award for recent collaboration with number TEN architecture group
