Events Guide: 4 opportunities to celebrate cycling

HALIFAX – There’s a slew of cycling celebrating going on this weekend, kicking off with tonight’s party and film screening in honour of the 2nd anniversary of the Halifax Cycling Coalition. Then, get out of your seats and onto your… well, seats, for a series of community bike rides around the peninsula.

1. WHAT: Halifax Cycling Coalition 2nd Anniversary
WHAT TO EXPECT: Cycling trivia, door prizes, screening of documentary film, Veer
WHERE: MacMechan Auditorium, Killam Library, Dalhousie University
WHEN: 6-9:30pm, Thursday, Nov 26th
COST: $3 for members, $5 for non-members

2. WHAT: Halifax Critical Mass
WHAT TO EXPECT: A mass-ive group ride around the peninsula
WHERE:
Meets at Victoria Park, at the corner of Spring Garden and South Park
WHEN: 6pm, Friday, Nov 27th (i.e. the last Friday of every month)

3. WHAT: Society for Bike Advocacy at Dal (SBAD) weekly recreational ride
WHAT TO EXPECT:
A friendly, intermediate-level ride.  This week’s route will tour the parks of north end Halifax, including Needham Park and Seaview Park (formerly Africville).
WHERE: Meets at the Dal Bike Centre, Studley Gym, Dalhousie University
WHEN:
1-3pm, Saturday, Nov 28th

4. WHAT: Sunday Funday!
WHAT TO EXPECT: A smaller group ride around Halifax, ending off at a cafe or eatery.  This week will head for the Hydrostone.

WHERE: Meets at the Needs convenience on Coburg Rd, route map posted on the Facebook page
