There’s something quintessentially Edmonton about this view. Being stuck in traffic, looking at a surface parking lot operated by some sort of Imperialist parking corporation hell-bent on turning the world over to asphalt and gravel, a person riding a bike through a lane that doubles as a portion of bona fide cycling route, uninspiring stucco condos and concrete modernist office buildings looming like squat trolls in the distance.

Oh, I’m not saying it’s flattering! And there are many other better things that Edmonton has to offer. But one has to admit that this is not an uncommon Edmonton view.

Here’s to hot summer days ahead and the balance tipping in the direction of “no more crap” in the not-too-distant future…
