Winter

For whatever reason, modern Toronto has never fully embraced the coldest days and months of the year. There are only a few places — rinks and a few skating trails — where the city has specifically designed outdoor spaces to be used in the winter. This issue tackles those challenges and examines what the city can do to improve our outdoor experiences in the winter.

All inside this issue are two fantastic photo essays: one from noted industrial architecture photographer Peter MacCallum who captured the last waning days of the city’s tannery; and the other from Cindy Blazevic, who was one of the only photographers to ever get inside the fabled shop on Queen St. W. of notorious bike thief Igor Kenk.
