Toronto just lost its beloved “graffiti tree” on Queen Street West, but we still have our… whatever it is. I came across this strange collection of flowers, stuffed animals, Christmas decorations and magazine clippings in Little Italy, near Dante Street. I have no idea if it’s maintained permanently or if it was a one-off thing. Either way, it’s pretty oddball.

I know these kind of things in Italy (albeit with more crosses) are put up to commemorate people that got killed crashing into that tree. Unlikely to have happened in rue Dante, but you never know.
It is maintained permanently and constantly changes. Think it must be done by a resident of the triplex behind the tree – if you look up there is some unusual, surrealistic stuff going on there too!
Just north of the Jean-Talon market, on Drolet, there is a very unusual, artistic balcony – between Jean-Talon and rue de Castelnau, west side of the street, upper balcony of a duplex.
