  1. And the billionaire promoter had the guts to frame his name in front the building after putting the whole population against him for demolishing the Van Horne mansion.

  3. I think the loss of the Prince of Wales Terrace is greater than that of the Van Horne Mansion.  I mean,Van Horne had some beautiful elements but frankly, was not near the best of what has been lost.  

  4. @commenter1: this is something that i’ve noticed also in other (i.e. aerial) photos. in the sixties a lot of beton was put down, but it seems that it hasn’t been maintained.

  5. @STF: It is far more glamorous to build something new than it is to maintain existing infrastructure. Major infrastructure is falling apart throughout the province, and yet we build more roads and bridges and extend the metro. That is what gets political support. Our water infrastructure is in on the verge of total collapse, yet nobody seems to be noticing: “out of sight, out of mind”….
