Urban Planet is a daily roundup of  blogs from around the world dealing specifically with urban environments. We’ll be on the lookout for websites outside the country that approach themes related to urban experiences and issues.

What makes a beautiful street? Tree-lined sidewalks? Brightly coloured homes? OpenPlans is trying to crowd source the answer to this age old question. Their platform, Beautiful Streets, uses Google Street View to provide users with images of two randomly selected streets in Philadelphia. Users are asked to select the image they find most appealing. Data collected will be used to tease out some key concepts of what makes a street beautiful.
