Urban Planet: The plight of Paris’ bicyclettes

With recent news of the financial woes of the Bixi bike-share programs in cities across Canada, Paris’ community bike program, Vélib, has suffered from serious issues of vandalism and theft. With more bikes and city-wide docking stations, coupled with less urban surveillance than its London equivalent, Paris’ initiative may have to reevaluate and reorganize itself in order to remain sustainable.
