Billboards and art in Halifax

Whenever I see a billboard or ad that has little or no information on it, I suspect a sneaky but clever ad campaign. Contact, the photo festival that takes place each May, uses outdoor billboards and bus shelters that challenge us to examine the use of advertising space in a whole new context.

And this is what they are doing in HalifaxBillboards is a public art project (pictured above) curated and organized by Eye Level Gallery. Located on the exterior wall of 2128 Gottingen Street, this off-site initiative brings works of contemporary art outside the gallery and onto the street.
