Waterfront Action is hosting a panel discussion on Tuesday May 30 on the subject of “Street Design and Healthy Communities”. From their mail-out:

WaterfrontAction has been involved in a number of the TWRC and City’s projects along the waterfront. All of the new communities being planned will need safe streets and good transit services so that we can have healthy vibrant communities for the people who will live there. We have organized a panel of speakers to address these issues from a number of perspective and we REALLY want and need you to be there for this discussion.

Panelists:

Christopher Hume — Toronto Star Columnist
Have you seen the “What If” special and resulting articles? April 16
– The Right to Walk — April 12
– Greening Toronto — April 30
– Improving Transit — May 7

Robert (Bob) Allsopp – urban designer with the Toronto based design and planning firm: Du Toit Allsopp Hillier (DTAH) He has been involved with the design of streets and other public spaces for over 30 years. He believes no street should be a “one-liner”.

Steve Munro — Toronto Transit Historian, Futurist, Activist and recipient of the Jane Jacobs Prize in 2005. The man, who reportedly knows more about the TTC than the TTC itself.

Tuesday May 30

Metro Hall Room 313
50 John Street

We plan on having other people from the City of Toronto’s Planning, Traffic Departments as well as representatives from the TTC. We want to get everyone involved in this discussion
