This Friday, September 22nd, join Streets Are For People for World Car Free Day. The annual parade begins in Trinity-Bellwoods Park around 4 PM and marches along Queen Street to City Hall. The organizers are the same people behind the Pedestrian Sundays in Kensington Market, and have pulled together the ReEvolution Day Arkestra for the event.
Visit the organizers’ site to read about the Code of Parade Ethics or instructions on how to throw a Parking Meter Party.

… before the parade and parking meter parties you can start off Car Free Day with a celebration on a closed Yonge Street and Yonge-Dundas Square.
The celebration begins at 10 am on Yonge-Dundas Square and on Yonge Street between Dundas and Shuter. Mayor David Miller will read the City of Toronto’s Proclamation of the City’s participation in the growing global event. The Sierra Club of Canada and the City of Toronto are co-sponsoring Toronto’s first weekday downtown Car Free Day celebration.
Be there on the Square and then march up to Queen West to join the parking meter parties and parade to City Hall!!!
