  1. Thanks to all the TPSC supporters and Torontoist and Spacing Wire readers who wrote into the City. We rock!

It might be worth keeping at them, though, to get them to extend the viewing beyond business hours so that people with 9-to-5 jobs have a chance to see the models.

  2. Clear Channel models: where does the water go off the top of all of their structures. In the case of the info post, right on to passers by I guess.

  3. The models are kind of neat. They really show the dimensions and characteristics of the furniture much better than simple images.

Astral did do a fine job with the models for their two concepts – the streetscape models look really nice. No comment cards though, though I did bump into Joe Mihevc, who was getting a good critique from someone else there (anyone who reads this?)

I think the main points are that the ads are being transferred to the pointless Infoposts from garbage bins/newspaper bins.

I overheard someone saying that the CBS shelters will have motion sensors (could potentially activate annoying audio or animations). One of the infoposts presented will have surveillance camera capability.

The Astral infoposts, like the ones we have now, seem small and unobtrusive compared to CBS (and especially) Clear Channel.

CBS’ new shelters have three versions. One is a regular size, with glass around 2 1/2 sides and ad at the front. Another, I guess for narrower areas, has little glass walls, but the full size ad. Then there’s a super-narrow version similar to the ones we have now.

I also do not understand the new bike posts. Just fix what we have.

I wish we could pick and choose. That said, out of the three, I’ll go with oen I have the least issues with and hope for Astral.

There’s no comment cards. I don’t know if this is because this is a last-minute display, or if they don’t want comment. They would be more useful as people have the most accurate impressions as they are actually seeing what’s in front of them, I think.

  4. Those photos look so cute! But that Astral bus shelter roof is still so wrong. I can’t make it to City Hall today, so I’m glad I’ll be able to check them out on another day. Is there any facility for submitting comments? Any faint hope that our comments might be read and considered?

  5. Thanks to further public pressure, the hours on three of the extra days have been extended. The new times are:

    8:30am to 8:00pm (April 4, 2007)
    8:30am to 4:30pm (April 5, 2007)
    8:30am to 8:00pm (April 10, 2007)
    8:30am to 8:00pm (April 11, 2007)
    8:30am to 8:00pm (April 12, 2007)

Information on how to submit comments to the Design Jury is here.

“No comment cards though, though I did bump into Joe Mihevc, who was getting a good critique from someone else there (anyone who reads this?)”

    That was probably me.
