Bikechain closed for exam period

Bikechain — an educational bicycle repair facility at the University of Toronto — is closing for exams. The last day they will be open is April 12 from 12 – 5 p.m. No workshop will be held that day.

Bikechain plans to reopen in early May. The exact date will be announced once they receive confirmation from potential funders.

Back in March, U of T students voted to fund Bikechain via a student levy. You can read more about that here. However, that funding does not kick in until the fall.

Bikechain would really like to thank everyone for making this year so successful. “We couldn’t have done it with out you!”

  1. Have the BikeChain guys found replacements for themselves after graduation? Nice to have funding but without anyone to run the program it won’t matter. I thought I read that somewhere…

  2. No word yet… I’ve asked (emailed) for the latest and will post the reply here later today.
It could be that they can’t hire anyone bcs they don’t have the money and they don’t get the money to hire anyone until fall… so that would have to be one pretty dedicated (and independently wealthy) summertime volunteer!

  3. Nope – they officially don’t know yet…
