What a relief! The headline made me think of Tom Jakobek and I was kind of worried for a moment there.
Isn’t getting someone from Scarborough to run Downsview Park kinda like getting someone from the 905 to be Toronto’s representative in cabinet?
What is this Scarborough of which you speak. We are all Toronto now, unless we’re talking about gun crime in which case we are all intersections.
First, it’s a regional park, not just a neighbourhood park, so if it’s not relevant to anyone in Scarborough that’s actually a problem.
Second, if it makes you feel any better, their CEO has “boyhood roots” in the community. And the last chair of the board was a York environmental studies professor. But the project has seemed dead-in-the-water for years, so some fresh perspective sounds good to me.
