  1. Water Leaks: Not that uncommon of a city problem and one worthy of attention. One thing that I also find amazing is that there are people on my street who still have flat rate residential water plans. I hear that they are finally being phased out and whats interesting is that many of the most over-watering (daily 20 minute sidewalk washes) people on my street are the flat water meter people.

  2. Wow, two announcements that are sure to bring radical change: hello better street food, hello Richard Florida (love that guy).

    One thing he will tell us, if he ever tells us anything, is that the creative class needs entertainment options, and if a city is not fun (ie retains its nightlife) they will move elsewhere. Hopefully we can keep that in mind in the face of the coming nightlife crackdown…

  3. Kevin, again I’m with your on the need for freedom at night and etc., but most of the creative class isn’t going to want to go visit violent crap music clubs that “the nightlife crackdown” will hopefully contain. You’re defending the wrong stuff.

  4. Nightlife crackdown…. c’mon. Cracking down on puking and fighting jocks is not a bad thing, Kevin. This is not going to turn us back to the old Toronto The Good. It’s about making sure a neighbourhood (where people also live) is safe for all and not an “anything goes” area. If you want anarchy at night go to Ibiza.

  5. the crakdown on Clubland is needed but it doesnt mean that it has to be shut down. As well there is tons more nightlife that exists outside clubland anyway.

    By the way I would assume that I would be in this “creative class” but want to go on record and say I don’t like or want the label.

  6. The club district is a joke. If you want a place with no class, bad music and horrible crowds, then that is the place to be. I don’t enjoy seeing teenagers and young adults fighting and getting pissed drunk. The kind of creative people Richard Florida talks about have the brains not to go near the club district after 9 pm.

  7. Ai yi yi. Richard Florida. “We need to attract the creative class” is just a code phrase meaning “Let’s gentrify the fuck out of everything and to hell with anyone else.”

  8. the city only changes you off flat rate if you get a water pipe upgrade, but if you refuse it – they keep you on flat rate! This means tarmac waterers and grass drowners have no fear of paying their share.
