Each Monday, Spacing will bring you some of the popular posts from our sister blog, Spacing Montréal. We’ll keep an eye open for topics and discussions that are pertinent to current public space issues in Toronto.

Take An east end expedition in Mercier and explore one of Montréal’s lesser-known neighbourhoods. The community is, in many ways, a snapshot of the city half a century ago — except for those Olympic Stadium views, of course.

Les nouvelles passes photo de la STM, a post about the design of the Montréal transit system’s new passcards, reminded me of a recent post on Spacing Toronto about our Metropasses. Theirs feature (gasp!) pictures of metro stations, but then again, ours feature the quaint, schoolyard-ish reminder of “No Pass Back Allowed.”

Big changes in store for the lower Main details a development proposal to turn part of the St. Laurent neighbourhood into a “pà´le vert.” This “green-themed” plan includes “office space for architecture, video production and design firms, shops selling fair-trade, organic and locally-sourced products as well as cafés and bars,” plus the complete pedestrianization of one street.
