Canadian Urbanism Uncovered

  1. The Star‘s obituary of Allan Sparrow contains an error:

“Sparrow was also a tireless campaigner for the gay community. He gave up his aldermanic seat to make way for George Hislop, Toronto’s first openly gay council member.”

Hislop was Toronto’s first openly gay Council candidate. He didn’t win, though (due largely to his gay rights activism). Kyle Rae was in fact Toronto’s first openly gay councillor.
