Canadian Urbanism Uncovered

  1. Naming intersections:
    It just occurred to me that there are standard orders in naming intesections of Toronto’s major streets.
    King & Yonge, Queen & Yonge, College & Yonge;
    but Yonge & Dundas, Yonge & Bloor, and Yonge & St. Clair.

    I can’t figure out any reason for this.

  2. It’s also common with people: mom and dad, and the names of friends in couples. I’ve never been able to figure the reasoning behind it.
