The third annual YIMBY festival is this weekend and is a great chance to meet with community groups, politicians and like-minded citizens to discuss issues in your neighborhood. There is already a huge list of groups who will be participating in the event and there will even be a bike-valet service provided by the Toronto Cyclist Union.

If you’re part of a group that would like to participate, you have until 11am on Saturday to register, contact magda@gladstonehotel.com to sign up.

WHAT: An Infectious Idea, 125 years of Toronto public health
WHEN: Opens Thursday October 30, runs throughout 2009
WHERE: City of Toronto Archives, 255 Spadina Road

A new exhibit at the City of Toronto Archives, An Infectious Idea documents over a century of public health related issues within the city through photography and log books.

Hours are Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

WHAT: Book Launch, HTO: Toronto’s water from Lake Iroquois, to Lost Rivers, to Low-flow Toilets
WHEN: Sunday, November 9, 2pm – 6pm
WHERE: The Blue Barracks, Fort York

HTO: Toronto’s water from Lake Iroquois, to Lost Rivers, to Low-flow Toilets is a new book looking at the history of water in Toronto and what will change in the near future.

The book launch is at Fort York, which happens to sit on the site of long-lost Garrison Creek, and will feature Spacing‘s Matthew Blackett moderating a panel discussion with HTO contributors about the future of water in Toronto.

After the discussion, guests have a chance to take a tour of the Fort in relation to Garrison Creek and the old Lakeshore.

WHAT: Transportation Futures: Ontario’s inaugural road pricing forum
WHEN: Thursday, November 13
WHERE:*changed* InterContinental Hotel Toronto-Yorkville (220 Bloor Street W)

Congestion, poor roads, pollution, are there ways to curb these problems or have they been integrated into our way of life? Transportation Futures sets the stage to discuss the possibility of road pricing and how it may be a viable option for Ontario.
