The Toronto Cycling Community are hosting a fundraiser for 36 year old Chris Kasztelewicz, who lost his leg while cycling last November due to an altercation with a cab driver at Dovercourt Road and Argyle Street.

When: Saturday, May 23rd from 8pm to 1am
Where: Toronto Free Gallery, 1277 Bloor St. West @ Landsdowne
$10 or PWYC at the door – all funds raised go to Chris

  1. Has Chris managed to ride any sort of bicycle (adapted to his disability, or hand-powered?) since the accident?

    I remember how angry this made me – it seemed like a deliberate assault.

    Often, in “reader comments” about our attempts to make Montréal more cycling-friendly and less autocentric, there are some utterly violent and threatening comments, and I’ve got those in person, though I’m a careful, courteous and generally law-abiding cyclist.

    Yep, usually from SUV drivers.
