CONTEST: ROM documentary video, Doors Open kick-off event

This week, the National Film Board of Canada is releasing The Museum, Kenton Vaughan’s film on the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal Expansion at the Royal Ontario Museum. Two DVDs will be given away to the first two contestants to email the correct decade in which this photo of the ROM was taken. Please email your answer to museum@spacing.ca along with your email address.

Furthermore, this Friday, May 22rd, the ROM is hosting the Doors Open Toronto Kick-Off Event from 4:30-930. This is a chance to meet William Thorsell, the Director and CEO of the ROM, as well as Mayor David Miller, both of whom will be on the scene to make some opening remarks.

As part of the Doors Open Kick-Off, there will be a free discussion entitled The Bold Museum featuring Kenton Vaughan and Kelvin Browne, the author of Bold Visions, a book presenting a vast array of photographs of the ROM from the beginning of the 20th century right up to the Lebiskind renovation. The discussion will also include clips from the documentary The Museum as well as a Q&A period and a book and DVD-signing.

  • In celebration of Doors Open Toronto, admission to the ROM will be free from 4:30-9:30 on Friday, May 22
  • The Doors Open Kick-Off Event begins with a welcome and opening remarks at 6pm
  • The Bold Museum is a free event taking place on Friday, May 22 at 7pm at the ROM’s RBC Glass Room
