Well… looks like the police budget will continue to be out of control.

I love your site because every time I read something in the Star and want to make a comment, the comments are closed but never here.
It’s about these marathons that they say are trying to pick one instead of two each year. Well first off that’s news to me it seems like there is one every weekend in the summer. But I’ve been saying it for many years, why don’t they just have the runs I think they are wonderful causes but NOT on city streets have them at the CNE grounds or Downsview park and stop annoying everyone else in the city with these road blockages.

to better reflect TTC performance.
Was walking by Carlton/Parliament this morning and they are building a new TD Bank at the corner it’s about 5-6 stories high. They had the walkway under the scaffolding blocked off because of workers above. I looked up and sure enough there are three workers walking around on the scaffolding with no “SAFETY BELTS” and there was no safety barrier out towards the roadway I think they were dismantling the scaffolds. I saw the foreman and asked him why they were not wearing safety belts because of the Christmas time deaths of four workers and he said, “it’s a different kind of scaffold”, but to my amazement about five minutes later they were putting on safety belts. I don’t get it four guys die at Christmas on a scaffold with no safety harness and these guys are working four stories above the ground without any and they don’t speak english so they may have been brought in from some other country. I snapped a few pictures before they put the harnesses on. Thank goodness they put them on but don’t understand what is wrong with people, is their “LIFE” not a concern to them?
