  1. Am pretty appalled by Perks’ comment in the story on the Dufferin Jog. At least Giambrone admitted it was a City decision. Sloughing off what seems pretty clearly a political decision to get a ribbon cutting before the election (with GP and JP front and centre, doubtless) on Metrolinx which will net 4 extra months disruption and doubtless massive extra costs both direct and indirect.

  2. While it was incredibly shortsighted not to add room on the Dufferin overpass for another track, I have to question why there needs to be 7 tracks in this area. The traffic consists almost solely of short passenger trains and a few switches would probably allow trains to flow through with ease.

    I mean, if all of the traffic to Berlin’s central station can come in on a four track viaduct, and all the traffic from Penn Station out to New Jersey gets funneled through two single track tunnels, I think 7 tracks here is massive overkill.
