Dept. of Cute Signs: “Walk your Bike” sidewalk stencil

I was in Stratford, Ontario last weekend and noticed this stencil on the sidewalks at intersections, indicating that people should walk their bikes when on the sidewalk. It seems to be official, as far as I could tell.

It’s cute the way it’s the classic “walking man” sign but with a bike behind it, and the hands meet the handlebars and the back of the seat the way one might in fact walk a bike.

I like this approach — simple, cheap, and unobtrusive but noticeable.

  1. Much better than the “NO BIKE” signs on every corner in Etobicoke. Did they appear to work?
