For the past month, Spacing has been on the road promoting the national issue and talking urbanism and city design in the big cities of Canada’s western provinces. It has been a tremendous opportunity to meet with all of the great and passionate city builders who are shaping the future of their respective cities.
Toronto is the seventh stop on the Spacing Road Show. It’ll also be the first day Spacing publisher Matthew Blackett is back in Toronto after driving to the Pacific Ocean and back— he will give a brief presentation on the Road Show so far. He will be joined by three great panelists to discuss the state of Canadian urbanism: Ken Greenberg (international urban designer and author of Walking Home), Lisa Rochon (Globe and Mail architecture critic), and Jyling Lee (public art sculptor in Toronto and Saskatoon).
Also up for discussion will be the “10 Best Public Spaces in Toronto” list we published in the national issue. We’d love to hear your opinions. Please join us to take part in a lively talk about whether Toronto is a leader or is lagging behind when it comes to city building and urban design on a national level.
