  1. The post can be such an idiot. “Doug Ford is a genius?” Try doing some research into how bad the plan actually is, you non-journalistic propaganda bureau.

  2. You may hate the Fords (and I do), but you have to recognize that they are brilliant at populist politics. They know that (most of) the public cares far more about results than about process.  The waterfront issue is a huge win for them: sweeping away a plodding, decade-long, if impeccable, process to get things done NOW. The left needs to learn this lesson urgently.

    I assume you’re talking about perceptions and not reality here.

    Because the reality is that WaterfrontTO came in and swept away a plodding, decades-long lack-of-process that saw TEDCO (AKA the agency the Fords want to give control of the waterfront to) accomplishing essentially nothing. In the decade WTO’s been around, we’ve seen real progress on both remediating toxic soil and actually getting stuff built.

    What the Ford’s are proposing isn’t getting stuff done now, it’s selling off City assets cheaply now and delaying any actual work for a decade at least.
