The Death of Planning? A Critical look at some current urban governance Issues

“The death of planning” is the concluding chapter of a just-completed book manuscript, Making law on the street: urban governance and the challenges of diversity, by Mariana Valverde. In this lecture, Valverde will argue that empirical research on a variety of urban governance issues, including planning-related community consultations, suggests that it is time to cast a critical look at two components of the Jane Jacobs legacy.

This lecture series is organized by the Institute on Municipal Finance & Governance (IMFG), the School of Public Policy and Governance, the Department of Geography and the Program in Planning, Urban Strategies Inc, and Global City Indicators Facility.
