Instaflaneur: late evenings on the Toronto Islands municipal pier

A Sunday afternoon spent on the Hanlan’s Point beach ends waiting for the Wards Island ferry back to the mainland. With ferry cutbacks to an already dreadful service, we waited till the sun started to set and the crowds and often-angry lines cleared. We also decided to ride over to Wards because it’s a nice dusk ride and to avoid the possibility of the ferry doing what it mercurially often does: heading back to the Hanlan’s dock from Wards unexpectedly. We figured we’d at least get on it first in case of crowding. This night, however, was tranquil and the City ran as it should.
