On Saturday, February 16th, community groups and campaigns that celebrate backyard projects big and small will unite in an annual “Yes In My Back Yard” festival. Now into its sixth year, the YIMBY Festival features initiatives on a range of topics — from food security to mental health to urban planning and development — that highlight the can-do attitude of residents. Hosted by the Centre for City Ecology, the festival is an ideal place to learn about new ideas for meeting local needs that are taking root in neighbourhoods across the city. In fact, if  you have a good idea for a problem needing addressing, apply to host a table. They’re still accepting applications.
