My two favorite moments during the election were:
• At the Who Runs This Town debate at St. Lawrence Centre — the one with all the candidates, fringe included — one of the more leftish fringe candidates shouted “There are no homeless people on the streets of Havana.”
• At David Miller’s victory party at the Steamwhistle while ordering a beer and watching council results on their plasma TV, one of the 20-year-old-ish women behind the bar asked, kind of irritatedly, “has there ever been a woman mayor of Toronto?” We said sure, June Rowlands and Barbara Hall in the 1990s.” The other shrugged and said “Oh, well, that was a long time ago.”
Anybody else have a funny moment?
