Bike Friday and the green agenda

Today is BikeFriday and cyclists all over the city rode to work this morning in groups. Tonight at 6:30 we ride together again for Critical Mass. Meet at Spadina and Bloor at 6 p.m. (Rumour has it that some cyclists will be meeting at Dundas Square, too.) You can see a discussion about CM in Toronto with this previous post. And, if you are feeling really wild and crazy then join Critical Ass later, at 11 p.m.

Judging from the fab photos here on bikelanediary the Grassroots Bikers Breakfast was a real success.

Over in Parkdale, the ratio of bikers to politicians was 1:1 for most of the morning.

Area MP, Peggy Nash (see featured profile interview later today) and Gord Perks, our “green” city councillor, were both on hand to show their support for BikeFriday and cycling. Nash’s office procured coffee from local java joint, Poor John’s Café, and had some tasty munchies for us cyclists and the many passers-by who stopped to chat. The NDP’s Green Agenda was also available.

Below are some of the pictures. Note the beautiful bike rack sculpture with Peggy’s bike. The bike rack sculpture program is an initiative of Parkdale Activity Recreation Centre (PARC).
