I recently visited Jerusalem, where I was charmed by their nattily-dressed walking man signs — you can even see the heel of his shoe. They’re reminiscent of Berlin’s ampelmann, but less stylized and with more detail.
Also charming were the “watch for pedestrians” signs, which showed an image of a parent and child walking hand-in-hand.
This symbol was used in many contexts in Israel, for example to signal the pedestrian presence in the lovely walking-and-cycling promenade down the midde of Rothschild Boulevard in Tel Aviv.
