Happy BikeFriday! It’s a busy and exciting one this Friday, June 29th.
The exciting news is that BikeFriday is being launched in Mississauga.
The City of Mississauga and Smart Commute Mississauga have declared the last Friday of every month as BikeFriday. Details on the inaugural ride and pancake breakfast can be found here.
I will be riding my usual route, starting at 8:45 a.m. You can see the route details here — just scroll down to the bottom of the BikePools section. Joe did up some really nice Bikely maps for each of the routes. Thanks, Joe!
And when the working day is done, if you just wanna have fun, why not enjoy a nice leisurely ride around the city with a few hundred fellow cyclists? We could even take a trip down Dundas to admire the newest portion of the bike lane from Ossington to Bathurst, brought to you by the Official Urban Repair Squad. Nicely done! Let’s hope the City doesn’t remove this one.
Meet for Critical Mass at Spadina and Bloor at 6 p.m. Here are some pics of last month’s freewheeling fun, as well as a super cool Critical Mass Cultural Glossary by Joel Pomerantz — all courtesy of bike lane diary.
After CM, a few cyclists will meet at the Last Temptation in Kensington Market. The get together is intended for anyone who is interested in cycling, advocacy, beer and pondering what the new(ish) website, I Bike TO, can do for Toronto’s cycling community.

The commute from High Park to Mississauga City Hall today was lots of fun. I usually do the ride solo, although a few times I’ve had as many as one other person join me. 🙂
Today we had four! The three extras were all from the City of Toronto’s Smart Commute group, and they pedaled out from the east end!
Great day for riding, and a nice break from the recent hot weather. I hope everyone else got a chance to enjoy it this morning too.
Happy Bike Friday!
Here are some photos from today’s ride.
Thanks Vic! Mississauga is my new fave place!
