Bike Summit 2009

After the success of last year’s Bike Summit, the Toronto Coalition for Active Transportation and the Clean Air Partnership are once again hosting a Bike Summit bringing together speakers from Toronto and around the world to talk about cycling policy.

The event is taking place Thursday May 28th. The summit promises to:

– Share international and Canadian best practices and perspectives realizing the economic and public health benefits of cycling.
– Present innovative new approaches to street design that improve conditions for active transportation.
– Engage key stakeholders on how to address barriers and effectively implement improved bicycle-friendly policies.
– Showcase the most recent best practices in bike parking and bike stations.

There is a special early-bird registration rate up to April 24th.

Find out more, see who the speakers are, and register on the TCAT website.

What Has Architecture Done For You Lately?

Innovative architecture organization Architext has been conducting a series of charettes around the world that bring local leaders together with local students to brainstorm answers to the question “What has architecture done for you lately?” using both words and images.

An exhibition based on this project — “A conceptual art exploration of the intersection of architecture with economics, health, environment, emotion, and equality” — will be on display at the Design Exchange starting on Wednesday April 15 and going to May 31.

Find our more about the project on the Architext website.
