“Broadway Plan impacts” – Grassroots sidewalk briefing

DATE: Wed, Aug 28, 2024
TIME: 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM
LOCATIONS: West 7th Avenue & Vine Street
REGISTRATION: Free but register through Eventbrite to get the organizers a sense of numbers.

Join CityHallWatch for a brief and informative sidewalk briefing at West 7th & Vine to get an update on the Broadway Plan implementation in Vancouver, plus amendments expected in Nov 2024 to further double (turbocharge) density in the 485 city blocks from Vine to Clark, 1st Ave to 16th. We will share what we know, explain 3D renderings of scores of 18 to 30 storey tower rezonings in progress under the Broadway Plan, including a dozen within mere blocks of our gathering.

We will create the opportunity for neighbourhood-level communication and networking, exactly the kind of thing Vancouver’s city planners have completely abandoned. How much population does Vancouver need to accommodate? How much density should go into the Broadway Plan area? Are there alternative scenarios? What about threats and impacts for existing neighbourhoods and residents, and especially renters? See you there.
