The City of Vancouver is asking the public for their comments on proposed transportation policies and actions as the Transportation 2040 public consultation moves into Phase 2.
During the first phase of public consultation in the spring of last year, transportation planners and engineers met with a broad range of residents, businesses, industry groups and regional commuters to get ideas for Transportation 2040, a plan that will provide a City transportation vision for the next 30 years and guide transportation decision making for the next 15 years.
The Phase 2 consultation asks for feedback on how ideas have been turned into proposed policies and actions for the coming years. Public input will help shape the draft transportation plan that will be presented to City Council in the fall.
Between now and July 13, 2012, have your say through an online survey about Vancouver’s transportation future at talkvancouver.com/transportation. The survey is designed to gather feedback on different transportation ideas and concepts and gives people the opportunity to complete the entire survey or comment on specific sections.
Watch for City staff at upcoming community meetings and summer events where they will have information about the Transportation Plan and look forward to chatting with people.
There are over 180 proposed concepts and transportation ideas as part of Phase 2 Transportation 2040, ranging from new and upgraded cycling routes and pedestrian corridors, to priority measures for public transit service and strategies that enhance goods movement and strengthen our local economy.
Vancouver is committed to a transportation network that supports job growth, business development and the efficient movement of people and goods. Our city also needs to have safe and accessible streets for pedestrians and vehicles, cycling for all ages and abilities, and public transit services that provide a range of transportation options.
Transportation 2040 will serve as the roadmap to ensure Vancouver’s future continues to be a healthy, prosperous and liveable city where walking, cycling and transit are attractive options for individuals to get around.
