Urban Planet: Unique Hydro Pylons

Urban Planet is a daily roundup of  blogs from around the world dealing specifically with urban environments. We’ll be on the lookout for websites outside the country that approach themes related to urban experiences and issues.

Hydro pylons can be a bit of an eyesore. In response, Russian creative collective Design Depot has proposed a set of creative approaches to beautify this challenging piece of infrastructure. Spacing asks: is there potential to use these modified pylons in the urban environment? (Core77)

  1. What a GREAT idea!

    The only problem with the image shown is that the feet might be too close together thus making the tower ‘tippy’ in a high side wind if the wires were ice-coated?

    Other animals could be used such as Giraffes, Herons, or Apes, with different bracketing to hold the cables.

    Kids would love it on a long drive.
