Toronto’s Urbanism Headlines: Friday

  1. Anybody who cycles should be cognizant of some pushback on the killing of cyclist Al Sheppard on Bloor St. from Mr. Bryant a few years back. I think the non-outcomes in some ways set a very bad precedent for anyone who gets in front of a car eg. taking the lane though there is no doubt that Mr. Sheppard was part of the problem, as the Collision report now extracted and online says. This is one bit of coverage today:
One unaddressed aspect is if bike lanes on Bloor could have prevented it all. Likely, yes. In 1992, that part of Bloor was #1 best for an east-west bike lane according to a fairly thorough study of options by the old City of Toronto.
